Ensuring Safe Practice and Reducing Exposure In order to ensure safe practice and reduce exposure, the ONS recommends a hierarchy of controls based on NIOSH and OSHA standards. These controls include biological safety cabinets, CSTDs such as Chemfort™, defined procedures and policies, and comprehensive staff training. In addition, ONS recommends PPE, which has been demonstrated to protect healthcare professionals against exposure to hazardous drugs.
