American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is a non-profit organization that accredits companion animal veterinary hospitals.

The 2016 AAHA Oncology Guidelines for Dogs and Cats appeared in the July/August edition of the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association.

These guidelines discuss the strict safety precautions that should be observed in handling chemotherapy agents, which are now commonly used in veterinary oncology.

The AAHA guidelines recommend the use of CSTDs to greatly reduce the potential for hazardous drug exposure to clinical personnel.

The AAHA guidelines note that FDA approval of CSTDs requires the following capabilities: no escape of HDs or vapor, no transfer of environmental contaminants, and the ability to block microbial ingress. Chemfort™ meets these requirements and is listed as a commercially available CSTD in the AAHA guidelines.
