    Next-Generation CSTD Portfolio

At this year’s EAHP 25th Anniversary Conference, Simplivia announced the launch of Chemfort™, its newest closed system drug-transfer device (CSTD). Chemfort™ was recently awarded the U.S. FDA product code ONB.

The FDA product code ONB is specific for 510(k) clearance of CSTD systems of any technology. By definition, this code is for devices that reconstitute and transfer antineoplastic and other hazardous drugs in healthcare settings.

ONB clearance is only provided after testing verifies the safety of the device. Testing using actual hazardous drugs found that Chemfort™ prevents fluids, droplets, and aerosols from escaping, effectively reducing the exposure of healthcare personnel to chemotherapy agents.

4 SKUs for 90% of all Preparations

Chemfort™ CSTD offers four products that enable 98 percent of all pharmacy preparations. The new design provides enhanced usability and incorporates Simplivia’s patented Toxi-Guard®, double-membrane air cleaning technology comprising a hydrophobic filtration membrane and an activated carbon filter, in the vial adaptor.

The unique Toxi-Guard® technology offers protection against virus penetration into drug vials. Chemfort™ is a new generation that incorporates all of Tevadaptor®’s demonstrated advantages but offers upgraded materials and improved usability. The combination means increased safety for healthcare professionals in a CSTD device that is easy to use.

Simplivia presented Chemfort™, and also hosted a virtual satellite symposium at the conference, featuring international speakers who addressed the importance of CSTDs when handling hazardous drugs. The symposium speakers were Ms. Harbans Dhillon, Past President of the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) 2016-2018, Mr. Seth Eisenberg, RN, OCN, BMTCN Professional Practice Coordinator for Infusion Services and Dr. Paul Sessink, Founder and Managing Director of Exposure Control Sweden.

Simplivia also had a virtual booth where conference attendees had the opportunity to chat with a live sales representative about Simplivia’s product range, including Chemfort™.
